Tiger Tracked to Hills Near Pudipalle as Capture Operation Continues

Authorities are using satellite-collar data, drones and specialist field teams to keep the animal away from villages and prepare a safe capture.

Forest teams reported a tiger moving near Pudipalle and Nelakota villages in Polavaram / Alluri Sitharama Raju district and launched a coordinated containment operation.
Specialist units from Bengaluru and regional centres have joined H.A.N.U.M.A.N. teams with tranquillisers, a cage, a wildlife ambulance, VHF equipment and drones to locate and capture the tiger.
Officials say the animal’s movement has been restricted to nearby hill terrain and is being tracked by its satellite collar to guide safe interception away from settlements.
Local authorities have urged residents to stay alert and avoid night travel and report no fresh cattle kills so far while the state government has ordered sustained efforts to capture the tiger.
The H.A.N.U.M.A.N. project is leading surveillance and veterinary support on site, and reporting differences in personnel counts reflect phased deployments rather than changes to the ongoing operation.
