- TIFF announced its 2026 Primetime lineup on Thursday, July 23, 2026, naming ten series from the U.S., Canada and international markets with eight slated as world premieres.
- The program will open with Jesse McKeown’s creature thriller Below and close with Mike Flanagan’s Prime Video adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie, both screening in Toronto before their streaming debuts.
- The slate is heavy on horror and suspense, also including Peacock’s Crystal Lake (a Friday the 13th prequel), the Crave series YAGA (on AMC+ in the U.S.), and Netflix’s Below starring Josh Hartnett.
- Primetime will also showcase prestige projects such as Shawn Ryan’s American Hostage starring Jon Hamm and the new season of Slow Horses, giving audiences episodes and creator conversations.
- Since its 2015 launch, Primetime has served as an industry launchpad and marketplace signal for TV, and TIFF plans more programming announcements ahead of the festival run from September 10 to 20, 2026.
