TIFF Unveils 54-Film Centrepiece Slate With Wavelengths and Classics Additions

The additions expand TIFF's international programming, boost festival premieres, increase animation representation, restore archival titles.

Overview

  • TIFF publicly named its 54-film Centrepiece lineup on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, and released companion Wavelengths and TIFF Classics programs in the same announcement.
  • The Centrepiece slate represents about 50 countries and mixes world, international and North American premieres while some outlets reported conflicting counts for how many Centrepiece titles are world premieres.
  • The new Centrepiece selections include high-profile and star-driven films such as Trash Mountain, The Surgeon and Lemonade, featuring talent like Zooey Deschanel, Michelle Yeoh and Barry Keoghan.
  • Wavelengths will present 11 feature films that emphasize experimental work and TIFF Classics will screen several 4K restorations, notably a restored version of Ken Russell’s The Devils.
  • The additions arrive ahead of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 10–20, 2026) and the inaugural TIFF: The Market (Sept. 10–16), a timing that could shape distribution deals and awards-season momentum.
