TIFF Mounts Christopher Nolan Retrospective at Lightbox

The series uses 35mm and 70mm prints plus live events to spotlight Nolan before his new film opens in July.

Overview

  • TIFF announced on Tuesday, May 26 that "Christopher Nolan: Grand Designs" will run at the TIFF Lightbox from July 8 to August 20 with a full published schedule.
  • Every title in the series will be shown from 35mm or 70mm film prints, underscoring TIFF’s focus on theatrical, analog exhibition and archival projection practice.
  • The lineup gathers Nolan’s features across his career — including Following, Memento, Tenet, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer and the Batman films — with special presentations and guest introductions on the schedule.
  • TIFF is pairing screenings with public events such as a live recording of The Ringer’s The Big Picture podcast, a pop-up planetarium, expert talks and trivia to create a festival-style program for local audiences.
  • The retrospective is timed ahead of Nolan’s new film The Odyssey, which opens worldwide on July 17, and TIFF also announced a separate fall–winter animation series curated by Masaaki Yuasa that expands the festival’s seasonal programming.
