Tiburon Nanny Arrested at SFO Over Alleged $60,000 Credit Card Fraud

Police say prosecutors are reviewing potential felony counts.

Overview

  • Naghmeh Novbakhtian, 35, who arrived Tuesday at San Francisco International Airport after international travel, was arrested on suspicion of credit card fraud.
  • Police allege she charged more than $60,000 to her former employer’s card for airline tickets, luxury hotels, cosmetic and spa services, ride services, retail purchases, and direct electronic payments tied to her accounts.
  • The victim told officers the nanny had permission to use a family card only for childcare expenses during July through December 2025, and police say the disputed spending happened after the job ended.
  • The credit card company flagged an unusual spike in transactions, which prompted the employer to contact Tiburon police and start the investigation.
  • The case has been sent to the Marin County District Attorney for charging review, and detectives are examining whether a previously reported residential burglary is related.
