Overview
- A 47-year-old man, Peter Phillips, was found with serious injuries on Ayton Crescent and later confirmed to have died from a single gunshot wound after emergency crews attended at about 11pm on Saturday, May 23.
- Tony Gaffney, Jonathon Spencer and Annaliese McQuilling have been charged with murder and were remanded to appear at Teesside Crown Court, with a pre-trial hearing listed for July 27 and a provisional trial scheduled for January 25.
- Police have arrested a total of ten people in the inquiry; five more were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender and bailed pending further enquiries while others have been released with no further action.
- Detectives are urgently seeking dash-cam or CCTV of two males riding a motorbike in Bankfields Road, Eston and Grangetown between 7pm on May 23 and 1am on May 24 and have given reference 098497 and an online upload portal for footage.
- The family described Mr Phillips as the 'heart and soul' of their family and asked for privacy, as visible cordons, forensic work and an increased police presence continue to affect the local community.
