Three More Arrested as Swindon Shooting Inquiry Widens

Wiltshire Police say the investigation now includes attempted murder and conspiracy allegations and they are asking the public to come forward with information.

  • The shooting, which happened on Friday, June 19, left a man in his 30s with a suspected gunshot wound and he remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
  • Officers initially launched an attempted murder investigation after armed police arrested a 51-year-old at an address on Queens Drive and set cordons at St Paul’s Street and Queens Drive for forensic work.
  • Police arrested a total of five people on Saturday on suspicions including attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, assisting an offender and drug offences related to nitrous oxide and Class C supply.
  • On Sunday police made three further arrests — a 20-year-old on suspicion of attempted murder and a 19-year-old and a 30-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to murder — while some earlier detainees were released on bail.
  • Wiltshire Police have urged anyone with information to contact 101 quoting log number 416 or to report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 as enquiries and cordons continue.
