- The three men entered guilty pleas at an Ontario court on Friday, June 5, with 25-year-old Robert Evans Jr. admitting manslaughter and his father, Robert Busby Evans, and uncle, Barry Evans, admitting to being accessories after the fact.
- Court materials say the Aug. 17, 2023, confrontation at The Curry House in Owen Sound began over a $145.43 CAD unpaid bill and that Evans Jr. punched owner Sharif Rahman, who fell, struck his head, suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed, and died a week later in hospital.
- Justice Christopher Chorney accepted a joint recommendation that the father and uncle serve 21 months each with credit for time served, and he ordered the men to remain in custody while their legal status in Canada is completed.
