Three Men Charged Over Daylight Gym Shooting in Sydney's South-West

The arrests follow a months-long probe by specialist squads.

  • Detectives arrested men aged 40, 32 and 38 in Parramatta, Burwood and Silverwater after Monday and Tuesday raids, charging each with shooting with intent to murder.
  • Police say two masked men fired 12 rounds at a 48-year-old outside World Gym on Steer Road in Gregory Hills on December 5 at about 8:30am, and the target escaped uninjured.
  • The alleged getaway red Range Rover was found on Macquarie Grove Road in Cobbitty, where officers recovered two pistols along with clothing, masks and cloned number plates.
  • The 40 and 32-year-old were refused bail and are due back at Parramatta Local Court in May, while the 38-year-old was remanded to appear before the Bail Division on Wednesday.
  • NSW Police involved the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad and a strike force as they continue the inquiry, and they are asking the public to contact Crime Stoppers with tips.
