Three Members of Family, Including Infant, Killed by Goods Auto Near Raybag

Police registered a case to trace the absconding driver following a string of recent fatal crashes in Karnataka.

Overview

  • The collision happened early Tuesday when a goods auto allegedly driving on the wrong side struck a motorcycle carrying a family from Bommanal to Raybag, killing the couple and their infant at the scene.
  • The dead were identified as Mahanthesh Mane, 27, his wife Sakshi Mane, 23, and their six-month-old son Samarth, all residents of Bommanal village.
  • Another child who was travelling with the family was seriously injured and remains in critical condition in hospital.
  • Police say the goods-auto driver abandoned the vehicle and fled, a case has been registered at Raybag police station, and officers are actively tracing the absconding suspect.
  • The Raybag deaths join recent multi-fatal crashes in Kalaburagi and Yadgir, raising fresh questions about speeding, wrong-side driving, and road-safety enforcement that investigators and local authorities will likely need to address.
