Overview
- Federal Oral Court No. 1 in Salta issued up to seven-year sentences for Benjamín Michel Delgado (seven years), José Burgos (five years, declared recidivist with ARS 6 million seized), and Roberto Carlos Leiton (four years).
- Two other defendants, Juan Alberto Romero and Ángela Cuenca, previously received six-year terms, with Cuenca ordered to serve her sentence under house arrest due to childcare responsibilities.
- The case grew out of a February 5 PSA interception at Salta’s access that led to a 180 km/h pursuit into Jujuy, the abandonment of a vehicle, several arrests, and the seizure of 15 kilograms of marijuana.
- Investigators say the group used a two-car convoy with a “coche puntero,” alleging Martina Oliva managed logistics and payments while Gustavo Tolaba negotiated supply at the Aguas Blancas border.
- The alleged leaders, Oliva and Tolaba, are set for an oral and public trial in February 2026 before Federal Oral Court No. 2 in Salta, following staggered arrests that included Delgado’s October capture after a crash.
