Three Killed in Separate Weekend Crashes in South Valley

CHP has opened investigations that could shed light on speed and aggressive driving risks on local roads.

Overview

  • Over the July 25–26 weekend three separate collisions in Santa Clara County’s South Valley left three people dead, two of them motorcycle riders.
  • A 45-year-old Watsonville woman died after her Honda motorcycle crashed on Highway 101 near the Sargent overcrossing on Saturday evening.
  • A 34-year-old San Jose man riding a Harley-Davidson collided with a Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer on State Route 152 at Ferguson Road and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A head-on crash on Bolsa Road north of Bloomfield Road killed a 56-year-old Aptos resident and the Ford F-150 driver fled the scene before being arrested.
  • CHP said causes have not been released, called the crashes preventable, urged drivers to obey traffic laws, and asked anyone with information to call the Hollister-Gilroy office at 408-427-0700.
