Overview
- South Wales Police, which announced the arrests Tuesday, detained two adults and a 12-year-old from Birmingham on suspicion of a bomb hoax linked to Cardiff secondary schools.
- All three remain in custody as officers investigate the case as an offence under the Criminal Law Act 1977.
- The anonymous messages, sent March 15–18 via the force’s online chat and later extended to St Illtyd’s High School, referenced explosive devices, firearms and knife attacks.
- In response, Llanishen High School and Eastern High School closed for two days after a joint decision by police and Cardiff Council.
- Police said they have found no evidence of any person attending the schools posing a threat, and inquiries into the online threats are ongoing.
