Overview
- A two-car collision on the N53 near Rassan, Dundalk, killed a driver in his late 60s and brought the Bank Holiday weekend death toll to three, while a woman in her 20s from the second car was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
- In Castletownroche, Co Cork, a single-vehicle crash killed a man in his 50s, who was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene before a post-mortem was arranged.
- A woman in her 40s who was struck by a lorry at Station Roundabout in Letterkenny died in hospital two days later, and Gardaí appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage from the Port Road area.
- In Dublin’s Terenure, a pedestrian in her 40s was seriously injured after being hit by a bus, and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out a technical examination as roads remained closed.
- Gardaí said the year-to-date road death toll stands at 45, six higher than at this point in 2025, during an Easter operation that also recorded 138 arrests for driving under the influence and more than 3,000 speeding detections.
