Overview
- The blaze started on Saturday evening, June 20, and firefighters rescued three men from a single-storey pavilion on New Zealand Way before bringing the fire under control around 9:25–9:30pm.
- About 15 fire engines and roughly 100 firefighters from North Kensington, Acton, Chiswick and nearby stations were mobilised after the brigade received 19 calls reporting the incident.
- London Ambulance Service treated nine people at the scene, conveyed three patients to a major trauma centre, and confirmed two were pronounced dead at the scene while a third later died in hospital.
- London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne said just over half of the pavilion was damaged and LFB specialist fire investigation officers are leading the inquiry supported by the Metropolitan Police.
- The site is close to Loftus Road, Westfield London and the former BBC Television Centre, and investigators and police notifications to families are ongoing as the probe into the cause continues.
