Overview
- Uttarakhand’s SDRF, police and local residents carried out a large-scale rescue after the bus fell nearly 100 meters near Kuanu on the Meenak/Minus Road in the Kalsi area.
- Authorities said the Himachal Roadways bus was on the Nerwa–Paonta Sahib route with about 36 people on board when it went out of control near Chakrata.
- Three passengers were confirmed dead — identified as Yasmin Begum, Richa and Dhan Bahadur — and more than a dozen others were injured, with at least 10 reported seriously hurt.
- Police registered a case as investigators examine preliminary accounts that the driver lost control during an overtaking attempt or after an embankment gave way.
