Three Arrested in Karimnagar Jewellery Heist as Search Expands for Subodh Singh Gang

Police name jailed Bihar gangster Subodh Singh as the mastermind.

Overview

  • Karimnagar police, who on Thursday announced three arrests in the PMJ Jewellers case, said they seized Rs 51,000 in cash, mobile phones, SIM cards and fake Aadhaar cards from the suspects.
  • The May 3 robbery left four staff with bullet injuries as five gunmen looted about 161.4 tolas of gold and 112 carats of diamonds valued near Rs 82.02 lakh.
  • Police identify Subodh Singh, lodged in Purnea jail in Bihar, as the planner and are seeking his custody on a transit warrant as teams search across states for the remaining suspects and the stolen jewellery.
  • Investigators say the crew spent about two months scouting towns, used fake IDs and number plates, stayed in lodges under false names, and followed an offline geo‑tagged map to stick to rural escape routes.
  • The gang had picked up six pistols the day before the crime, then fled on motorcycles to Dharmapuri, handed the jewellery bag off in the Gundala forest area, and split up by train and bus.
