Overview
- Law enforcement says multiple rounds were fired at the park’s swim beach, with the initial call coming in around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
- Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers and ACSO K9 teams cleared and searched the area and closed a portion of the swim beach for evidence collection.
- Six people were detained at the scene and the sheriff’s office later confirmed three adults were arrested, one juvenile was issued a criminal summons, and another juvenile was detained and released.
- No injuries were reported and K9 officers helped locate the suspected firearm, but officials have not released identities, a motive, or whether formal charges have been filed.
- The swim beach is a heavily used summer site, so authorities’ ongoing evidence work may keep parts of the park closed and could delay reopening while the investigation continues.
