Three Arrested After 76 Kg Cocaine Seizure in Puno Road Pursuit

A specialized anti-drug prosecutor is leading an investigation into a suspected local trafficking network.

Overview

  • Police on Jan. 19 intercepted a motorcycle and a Toyota station wagon on the JuliacaArapa route near the Yanico Cuturi community in Azángaro after a pursuit.
  • Officers seized 75 brick-style packages from three backpacks and a polyethylene sack bearing a dolphin seal, with a total weight of 76.958 kilograms that field-tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride.
  • The detainees were identified as Abel Cusi Carrasco, 27, and brothers Wilber, 23, and Alberto Kenyi Huamán Núñez, 30.
  • Preliminary police findings indicate the motorcycle acted as a lookout or “liebre” while the station wagon transported the shipment.
  • Authorities notified the specialized anti-drug prosecutor and transferred the suspects, vehicles, and drugs to specialized units in Juliaca for ongoing inquiries into the alleged group Los Telemáticos de San Román.
