Overview
- Two synagogues in Vaughan and Toronto were shot at on March 6–7 with damage to front entrances and no injuries reported.
- On August 10, York Regional Police charged 23-year-old Chris Perreira of Barrie in connection with those synagogue attacks and two other regional shootings.
- Perreira faces multiple counts including conspiracy, four counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of mischief related to religious property, and possession of property obtained by crime.
- Police say Perreira had already been charged in a March 25 Vaughan home shooting and is now linked to a March 19 Aurora shooting, and investigators state there are no outstanding suspects in the synagogue cases.
- York Regional Police and Toronto Police say the joint investigation remains active and they are urging anyone with information to contact authorities while Jewish communities continue to process alarm over the attacks.
