Third Arrest in South Carolina 'Puppy Sale' Killing of Dana Kinlaw

Investigators say the slaying appears to be retaliation linked to a Darlington County homicide involving the victim’s son.

Overview

  • Authorities say Dana Marie Kinlaw, 40, was found in a burning vehicle on Jan. 22 on Atlantic Road near Springbranch Road in Effingham, South Carolina.
  • Iryanna Jarissa Fleming, 19, and Daquinn Taheen Thomas, 31, were arrested within hours, and Nikko Christopher Carraway, 31, was taken into custody on Jan. 28.
  • All three suspects are charged with murder, first-degree arson, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and they are being held without bond.
  • Sheriff TJ Joye says Kinlaw was lured by Fleming under the pretense of buying a puppy, then shot before a liquid was poured on her and she was set on fire inside her vehicle.
  • Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken identified Kinlaw and ordered an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina as the investigation continues and additional charges remain possible.
