The Batman: Part II Delayed to February 18, 2028 as Reeves Shares First Look at Pattinson in Batsuit

Warner Bros. said the new date follows a studio calendar reshuffle and will give director Matt Reeves extra post-production time.

Overview

  • On Wednesday Matt Reeves posted a camera-test clip on social and Vimeo that offered the first official footage of Robert Pattinson back in the Batsuit and revealed the Feb. 18, 2028 release date.
  • Production began in June 2026 in the U.K. and the studio and filmmaker have said the later date will allow more time to complete visual effects, editing and other post-production work.
  • The move was part of a wider Warner Bros. slate reshuffle that shifted J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond into the film’s former October slot and rearranged several other release dates.
  • Reeves confirmed returning cast members including Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell and announced new hires such as Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry while specific character assignments remain unverified and are being reported as rumors.
  • The new date places the film on the four-day Presidents’ Day weekend and the studio expects the release to retain IMAX exhibition, a choice that can widen its theatrical rollout.
