Thane Schedules 24-Hour Water Shutdown May 21–22 for MIDC Pipeline Works

The cut supports urgent repairs on Barvi gravity lines to protect supply during low reservoir levels.

Overview

  • Thane Municipal Corporation set a full 24-hour cut from Thursday 12 pm to Friday 12 pm that halts supply in Diva, Kalwa, most of Mumbra, parts of Wagle, and Kolshet in Manpada.
  • Crews will upgrade and repair Barvi Gravity Pipelines 1, 2, and 3 at the Jambhul water treatment plant under the MIDC scheme.
  • TMC said pressure will stay low for 24 to 48 hours after service resumes, and it urged residents to store water and use it sparingly.
  • Civic officials tied the shutdown to low stocks in the Andhra and Barvi dams and to a plan to stretch supplies through August 31.
  • MIDC supplies these wards with bulk water, and a similar 24-hour outage in April shows a pattern of short cuts to keep the system reliable.
