Overview
- TMC and MBMC have scheduled a 24-hour suspension of MIDC water supply from 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 4 to 12:00 pm on Friday, June 5 for the areas served by the MIDC network.
- The shutdown will hit MIDC-fed localities including all areas under Diva and Kalwa ward committees, most of Mumbra (excluding parts of wards 26 and 31), pockets in Wagle Estate and Manpada, and Mira-Bhayandar.
- Civic leaders said the move follows a May 14 Water Resources Department review that cited El Niño and a positive Indian Ocean Dipole as factors that could delay the monsoon and strain incoming bulk supplies.
- Thane also plans a separate 12-hour pre-monsoon maintenance window on June 3 to service the Pise pumping station and the Temghar water purification centre.
- Residents are being asked to store limited water, use supplies sparingly and expect low pressure for up to 48 hours after services resume because MIDC is the bulk supplier that feeds multiple municipal networks.
