Thames Valley Police Launches Data-Led Roads Policing Tasking Team

The unit will target high-harm driving using monthly intelligence reviews under the Government’s new Road Safety Strategy.

Overview

  • The team is now operational across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire following its 16 February launch.
  • Officers will deploy proactively to hotspots identified from collision trends, police intelligence and emerging threats.
  • Enforcement will prioritise dangerous, impaired and irresponsible driving, including drink and drug offences, with increased action expected.
  • Taskings will be set through internal processes to ensure deployments are rooted in robust data and a clear understanding of need.
  • Police leaders, including Inspector Simon Hills and PCC Matthew Barber, say the approach will deter offenders and support partnerships to cut casualties in line with the 65% reduction target by 2035.
