Overview
- Thales, which launched the Expeditionary PathMaster on Thursday, introduced a carry-anywhere operations center for mine countermeasures missions.
- The system’s portable hub lets crews run missions from shore, small boats, or existing warships while linking autonomous underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, and legacy minehunters under one command setup.
- Thales says its Mi-Map tool uses artificial intelligence to process sonar up to four times faster with 99% classification accuracy, and its M-Cube software manages multiple analysis tasks in real time.
- Trials with the Lithuanian Navy and use in NATO exercises showed it can plug into mixed fleets, and Thales said a basic package could reach a customer in about six months even though no contract is in place.
- Sea mines can quickly shut straits and ports, so a portable system that coalition partners can share could speed route reopening in hotspots such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Black Sea.
