Texas Voter Registration Deadline for March 3 Primary Is Monday

Officials urge in-person filing or a manual postmark due to possible USPS postmark delays.

Overview

  • Monday, Feb. 2, is the last day to register or update your address to vote in the March 3 Texas primary.
  • Texas does not offer full online registration, so new applications must be printed, signed and mailed or submitted in person, with limited online updates available through DPS when renewing or changing a driver’s license or state ID.
  • Mailed applications must be postmarked by Monday, and local officials advise requesting a manual postmark at the post office or registering in person to avoid late postmarks.
  • Early voting runs Feb. 17–27, and the deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is Feb. 20.
  • Voters must meet Texas eligibility rules and present an acceptable photo ID such as a Texas DPS-issued ID, U.S. passport or military ID, with IDs allowed to be expired up to four years and special provisions for those 70 or older.
