Overview
- A Gloucester Crown Court jury convicted Amanda Wixon, 56, of false imprisonment, two counts of forced or compulsory labour and multiple assaults, and she also received an indefinite restraining order.
- Police went to the Priors Park home in March 2021 after a report from one of Wixon’s sons and found the victim living in a room likened to a prison cell in overcrowded, squalid conditions.
- The court heard the woman, taken in at 16 and now in her mid-40s, was beaten with a broom handle, had washing-up liquid forced down her throat, bleach splashed on her face and her head repeatedly shaved, and was denied food and the ability to wash or leave.
- Evidence showed the victim had no recent medical or dental records, was close to underweight when found and bore scars and calluses from constant cleaning, highlighting long-term safeguarding failures.
- Detectives said Wixon arranged for the victim’s benefits to be paid into her account, with records showing over £33,000 received between 2016 and 2021, while the victim is now living with a foster family, attending college and receiving therapy but continues to suffer trauma.
