Tesla Signs Long-Term PPA for Zelestra’s 140-MW Lumen Farm in Texas

The deal signals Tesla’s interim reliance on third-party utility-scale solar as in-house panel production ramps up.

Overview

  • Tesla has agreed to buy the entire output of Zelestra’s planned 140-MWac Lumen Farm in northeast Texas under a long-term power purchase agreement.
  • Zelestra says it expects to begin construction in 2027.
  • The developer targets commercial operation in 2029 and neither company disclosed PPA pricing or which Tesla facilities will use the power.
  • The agreement builds on a prior 57-MWac Tesla–Zelestra deal in Spain and expands Zelestra’s US corporate pipeline; Zelestra is EQT-backed and manages more than 16 GW of projects.
  • The purchase reflects Tesla’s need for immediate, location-specific clean power to serve fast-growing Texas loads and highlights rising competition among hyperscalers and industrial buyers for ERCOT solar capacity.
