Tesla Recalls 63,619 Cybertrucks in U.S. for Over-Bright Headlights

Tesla will deploy a free wireless software update to curb excessive headlight brightness flagged by U.S. regulators.

Overview

  • Tesla’s action covers Cybertruck model years 2024–2026 after regulators said parking and front lights can exceed permitted brightness and distract other drivers.
  • The affected vehicles were built from November 13, 2023 through October 11, 2025 and are running software versions earlier than 2025.38.3.
  • The company says the remedy will be delivered over the air at no cost, with owner notification letters scheduled to begin on December 13, 2025.
  • NHTSA said it is not aware of any collisions, injuries, or deaths linked to the lighting defect to date.
  • Separately, NHTSA is investigating 58 incidents tied to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving mode involving red-light running, wrong-way driving, crashes, fires, and injuries.
