Overview
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted the recall Wednesday for 218,868 Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X vehicles that do not meet the federal rear-visibility safety rule.
- Tesla’s 2026.8.6 firmware can leave the backup camera blank for up to 11 seconds if the car is started and immediately shifted into reverse, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle.
