Overview
- Franklin police made public video from a bus's internal camera that shows a black Tesla cut around a stopped car and drive into the bus lane to pass a stopped school bus just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday as a Franklin High School freshman was boarding.
- The student was not injured and a witness parent, Kenny Isidoro, said his daughter narrowly avoided the vehicle after the bus sounded its horn.
- Police are actively asking the public to identify the Tesla driver and are taking tips through Sgt. Connor Crossman at ccrosman@franklinma.gov or 508-528-2723.
- Bus drivers and neighbors say the Chestnut Street stretch has a recurring speed and stopping problem, and the student's father has formally asked town officials for a 30 mph limit, warning signs, and radar enforcement.
- No arrests or policy changes have been announced, but officials releasing the footage and community pressure increase the likelihood of a local traffic-safety review and possible changes to enforcement or signage.
