Overview
- The 2026.26 Summer Update began rolling out in late July and extends Grok voice commands from simple navigation into core car functions such as Spotify playback, phone calls, climate controls, glovebox release, and control-menu searches.
- Expanded Grok functionality requires an AMD Ryzen infotainment processor (HW4 and refreshed Model 3/Y) and either Premium Connectivity or a Wi‑Fi connection, so older Hardware 3 Intel-based cars do not receive the full voice controls.
- New navigation features include Automatic Navigation, which learns and suggests regularly visited stops, and Preferred Routes, which prioritises roads the driver has used before using anonymous online routing data.
- Tesla moved several conveniences to the mobile app (v4.59.0+), enabling owners to view and share FSD statistics, set arrival battery percentage from the phone, and upload custom vehicle wraps directly to the car.
- Seasonal update work focuses on convenience and user experience while full self-driving development continues on separate branches, and Tesla’s subscription gating comes as the company reports strong deliveries and high FSD-subscription take rates.
