Overview
- Terra Innovatum and technomedia group Waiken ILW have a letter of intent to deploy SOLO micro-modular reactors to support DIRECTV Latin America and SKY Brasil with up to 8 MWe of behind-the-meter capacity.
- The deal is presented as Terra Innovatum’s first announced commercial deployment initiative in Latin America and as a pilot to test resilient, on-site power for broadcasting and data-center operations.
- Terra Innovatum says SOLO was conceptualized in 2018, engineered over six years, uses commercial off-the-shelf components, and can operate on LEU+ today with planned readiness for HALEU fuel.
- The company claims SOLO’s modular design can scale from small installations to aggregated capacity up to about 1 GW and supply heat and services such as desalination and radioisotope production.
- The agreement remains at the LOI stage and regulatory, technical and operational details have not been confirmed, so the companies’ projection that SOLO will be available globally in roughly three years is an unverified company forecast.
