Overview
- Telegram has returned first‑party smartwatch support with native apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS, restoring full chat access, media viewing and voice‑message playback and recording on the wrist.
- The two builds currently differ in features: the Wear OS app prioritizes chat management such as muting, pinning and deleting, while the Apple Watch app includes location previews and sticker sending, with Telegram saying missing features will be merged in later updates.
- This release brings official Telegram support to modern devices that did not exist or ran different software when the app was removed five years ago, including Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch models running Wear OS.
- The companion apps are appearing in global app stores in a staged rollout and Apple Watch setup uses QR pairing and an optional cloud password for account linking.
- The same update bundle also adds phone‑side improvements such as richer bot text formatting, Markdown (.md) file support, links in poll options and the ability to open or force links to load in an external browser.
