Telangana Sets June 2 Launch for Indiramma Housing Phase II

New rules aim to keep urban poor near jobs by siting homes within 5–8 km of current neighborhoods.

Overview

  • The government will roll out Phase II of the Indiramma housing scheme in Adilabad on June 2 to coincide with Telangana Formation Day.
  • The State Cabinet is slated to finalize Phase II guidelines at a meeting on May 21.
  • Officials were told to pick urban sites within a 5–8 km radius of beneficiaries inside the Outer Ring Road to avoid displacing families from work and schools.
  • A special drive due by the end of May will match finished or in-progress double-bedroom units to nearby eligible households and ready water, sewer, and power so people can move in.
  • In Hyderabad, eligible residents who already own land will receive Indiramma sanction letters by the end of the month.
