Telangana Says Current Covid Rise Is Mild Seasonal Uptick

The Telangana Health Department issued an advisory on Friday saying the recent increase in Covid-19 cases is a mild seasonal rise and not cause for public alarm.
The Union health ministry, citing assessments by IDSP, ICMR and CMC Vellore, reported no evidence of a new Variant of Concern or increased severity of illness.
Officials urged elderly people and those with underlying conditions to avoid crowded or poorly ventilated places and to continue basic hygiene and masking where needed.
State authorities said they are maintaining surveillance under ministry guidelines and have readied testing kits, medicines, PPE and 255 dedicated Covid beds across 17 teaching hospitals.
Public health experts note that seasonal rises in respiratory viruses are common in India and that the networked surveillance system aims to spot any real change in trend early.
