Overview
- Chief minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Wednesday to seek fast approval for Metro Phase-II as a state–Centre joint venture.
- The state says its detailed project report proposes seven corridors spanning 122.9 km at an estimated ₹38,595 crore, though some reports earlier cited a 76.4 km plan with lower costs.
- Officials told the Centre the government has taken full control of Phase-I from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad to remove coordination hurdles and streamline future buildout.
- Reddy also asked the Centre to include a Rajiv Gandhi International Airport–Bharat Future City line in Phase-III, noting that a separate DPR for that corridor is already filed.
- State officials say agencies like JICA and the Asian Development Bank have shown in‑principle interest to finance the expansion, with funding expected to unlock after Union approval.
