Overview
- The initiative, described by officials as a first in India, allows FIR registration at a victim’s residence, hospital, crime scene or another chosen place for specified sensitive offences.
- It covers seven categories: offences against women and children, offences affecting the human body, property offences, and cases under POCSO, the SC/ST Act, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act.
- Upon telephonic or oral information, police will proceed to the chosen location, record the complaint, forward it for registration at the concerned station using Zero FIR where necessary, and provide the FIR copy on-site.
- Officers may record statements on-site under BNSS Sections 180 and 183 while securing the scene and preserving evidence to support prompt investigation.
- SOPs have been issued to SPs and SHOs, officer training is underway for a statewide rollout from January 27 under CID monitoring, and discreet protocols with woman constables and SHE Team personnel will protect privacy, with officials expecting reporting to rise as trust grows.
