Telangana Police Form SIT to Probe Alleged Defamation of Woman IAS Officer

Overview

• Orders constituting the Special Investigation Team were issued with immediate effect under Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, with Joint Commissioner N. Swetha heading the probe.

• Police have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 75, 78, 79, 351(1) and 352(2), as well as Section 67 of the Information Technology Act on obscene electronic content.
• Case records name the management, editors, reporters and anchors of multiple TV channels, including NTV, along with several digital platforms and social media handles accused of amplifying the material.
