Overview
- Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials Monday to send a formal request to the CBI and asked ministers to seek a meeting with the agency’s director if required.
- In a review with senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the government said there is no court case blocking action on the Kaleshwaram matter and that the P.C. Ghose Commission remains valid.
- The High Court’s April 22 order barred action against K. Chandrasekhar Rao and three others based only on the commission’s findings, and the state says that does not prevent a CBI investigation.
- The P.C. Ghose Commission, led by a retired Supreme Court judge, examined alleged irregularities and damage to barrages in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, and its report was tabled in the Assembly in August 2025.
- The CBI has not yet said if it will open a case, a call that could bring federal investigators into a marquee Godavari river project and determine whether lapses under the previous BRS government led to costly failures.
