Telangana Fast-Tracks Indiramma Housing, Says It Will Fund Scheme If Centre Doesn’t Pay

The pledge seeks to keep a statewide buildout on schedule.

Overview

  • Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state is waiting for the Union share of about ₹1.13 lakh per house, with final bills on hold, and will foot the cost if the money does not arrive soon.
  • He reported that Phase I now has more than 3.5 lakh homes sanctioned, with about 1.32 lakh already completed.
  • He said another 68,000 to 72,000 houses are set to reach the concrete slab stage by the end of June.
  • Phase II will launch in Adilabad on June 2, and the government plans to consider support for partially built homes.
  • The scheme offers ₹5 lakh per home as a full subsidy and widens eligibility to people who earlier received small Indiramma grants.
