- A notification issued late Tuesday by the Council Secretary said Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy accepted the suspended BRS leader’s resignation with effect from January 6.
- Kavitha had submitted her resignation on September 3, 2025, and she pressed for its acceptance in a January 5 speech in the Council.
- In that address, she alleged corruption during the previous BRS regime, called the party’s Constitution a joke, and said she was not part of certain unpopular decisions.
- The BRS suspended her in September 2025 after she accused her cousins and party leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar of tarnishing KCR’s image over the Kaleshwaram project.
- Since her suspension, she has worked through Telangana Jagruti and announced in December that her political platform will contest the next state assembly elections; she was elected to the Council in 2021 from Nizamabad Local Authorities’ Constituency.
