Telangana CM Invites Rajnath Singh for Gandhi Sarovar Launch, Renews Defence Land Request

The outreach follows a lean Union Budget for Telangana with key clearances still pending.

Overview

  • In New Delhi on Feb 12, A. Revanth Reddy met the defence minister and invited him to the late-February foundation ceremony at the confluence of the Esa and Musi rivers.
  • He renewed a request for roughly 98–100 acres of defence land for the Musi River rejuvenation; the minister appreciated the effort, with the transfer yet to be approved.
  • The Gandhi Sarovar is framed as a flagship of river restoration, developing Bapu Ghat into an educational, cultural, spiritual and environmental hub at the site where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in 1948.
  • In a meeting with Railways, the chief minister sought full central funding for the Krishna–Vikarabad line and proposed 500 acres near Shamshabad for three high-speed corridors to Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune.
  • With Civil Aviation, he requested expediting works at Mamunur, approvals for the Adilabad proposal, and further studies and clearances for additional planned airports.
