Telangana Chief Minister Orders Police Overhaul Focused on Accountability and Technology

  • He ordered immediate reports and operational steps to expand the cybercrime wing, including selecting personnel during training and proposing a dedicated cybercrime course at the Telangana Skills University.
  • Officials were told to boost forensic and data infrastructure, widen CCTV and Integrated Command and Control Centre use, and prepare a focused cybercrime action report for follow-up.
  • The CM instructed targeted operations against ganja trafficking, the establishment of special de-addiction centres, stepped-up night patrolling, and a crackdown on illegal flex banners.
  • Longer-term measures to be examined include mandatory cross-wing postings after promotion, possible new powers for the Vigilance Department, a shift to electric departmental vehicles, and a Fire Department report due by June 15.
