Telangana ACB Raids Warangal Sub-Registrar Office Over ₹42 Lakh in Suspect Digital Transfers

An FIR is registered with a government briefing to follow.

Overview

  • Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau, which inspected the Warangal Sub-Registrar Office on Thursday, found 20 unauthorised agents inside and seized ₹47,450 in cash with 70 unregistered documents.
  • Phone checks of document writers, according to investigators, showed WhatsApp chats that pointed to about ₹42.03 lakh in PhonePe transfers with the two sub-registrars over the past year.
  • Following the office check, searches at the officials’ homes recovered ₹24.61 lakh in cash, 819.5 grams of gold, 2.6 kilograms of silver, and fixed deposits worth ₹30.10 lakh in Kapil Chits.
  • The bureau filed an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act and is preparing a detailed report for the government as further legal and departmental action moves ahead.
  • The ACB urged citizens to report bribery on its toll-free helpline 1064 to protect the deed registration process that sub-registrar offices handle for property owners.
