Overview
- Two men fell from a toy blow-up inflatable into Broadford Bay on Saturday evening and were seen struggling in the water.
- A local teenager, believed to be about 16, spotted them, launched his own boat and brought both men back to shore safely.
- The Coastguard had alerted Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI around 9pm but the lifeboat arrived after the teen had completed the rescue.
- Kyle of Lochalsh volunteers checked the men and found no injuries, and the RNLI publicly praised the teenager’s quick action.
- The RNLI used the incident to remind the public that inflatables are for pools, to urge lifejacket use and to carry a means of calling for help because cold water shock and drifting can rapidly worsen outcomes.
