Overview
- On Friday, July 3, 2026, Cardiff Crown Court sentenced 19-year-old Kian Bateman to life with a minimum term of 17 years for the murder of Shelley Davies and the grievous bodily harm of her partner.
- Prosecutors showed footage and scene evidence that Bateman had been inhaling nitrous oxide before he drove his mother’s Seat Ibiza into a group outside the 4th Glamorgan Homeguard Club, striking 38-year-old Shelley Davies and her partner on 27 September 2025.
- Davies suffered catastrophic injuries, underwent surgery, developed infections and septic shock, and died in hospital on 18 October 2025 from complications of those injuries.
