Teen Seriously Injured, E-Bike Rider Arrested After Middlesbrough BMW Collision

Police identify a collision between a Surron e-bike and a grey BMW 120 at the Newport Road–Lamport Street junction Friday evening.

  • Three people were taken to James Cook University Hospital, including a 14-year-old e-bike rider later transferred to Newcastle’s RVI with a brain bleed and an ankle fracture.
  • The woman driving the BMW was taken to hospital to be checked for bruising and shock.
  • An 18-year-old e-bike rider suffered serious leg injuries and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance, driving under the influence, and possession of an offensive weapon.
