Teen Killed in High-Speed Rollover in Adelanto

San Bernardino County detectives have taken over the probe, are collecting forensic evidence at the scene, and are asking witnesses to contact the Apple Valley sheriff’s station.

Overview

  • A 2013 Dodge Charger carrying eight teenagers left Rancho Road near Lilac Road before 2:40 a.m. Sunday, rolled onto its side, and ejected at least one occupant.
  • A 17-year-old occupant died at a hospital and six other teens were treated at a nearby hospital for a range of injuries.
  • Sheriff’s Regional Major Accident Investigative Team detectives closed the intersection for about six hours to gather evidence and are still determining what caused the driver to lose control.
  • Authorities have not released the victim’s identity and they are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to call the Apple Valley sheriff’s station at 760-240-7400.
  • The crash raises questions about speed, restraint use and vehicle loading that investigators will examine, and families and the community face immediate medical and emotional impacts as the probe continues.
